The Marcus King Band Announces December Show at New York’s Iconic Beacon Theatre
NEW YORK CITY (September 9, 2019) The Marcus King Band will return to New York City on Saturday December 21 at the iconic Beacon Theatre, the band announced today.
After three consecutive sold out nights at The Brooklyn Bowl in June, playing The Beacon Theatre isn’t just a step forward for Marcus King; some say it’s his destiny. Located in Manhattan’s Upper West Side, the Beacon has played host to countless performances by The Allman Brothers Band, Gov’t Mule and Tedeschi Trucks Band. Ever since he was a teenager, Marcus King has been trading licks with his fans/mentors Warren Haynes (ABB, Gov’t Mule) and Derek Trucks (ABB, Tedeschi Trucks) whenever their paths have crossed. The buzz about King being his generation’s heir to the Allman Brothers’ musical legacy finally becomes official on December 21.
Born and raised in Greenville, South Carolina, Marcus King comes from a long line of Blue Ridge Mountain musicians, tracing his lineage back to his fiddle-playing great grandfather. King has never strived for authenticity—it’s busting out of his DNA in every note he plays and every word he sings. Now, the 23-year-old King fronts a blistering, soulful band, featuring Jack Ryan (drums), Stephen Campbell (bass guitar), Justin Johnson (trumpet/trombone), and Dean Mitchell (saxophone), that has honed its synergy through relentless touring. This focused, firmly rooted artist is not only perpetuating the proud legacy of American rock and soul music; with 2018’s musically enthralling, deeply personal album, Carolina Confessions, The Marcus King Band adds their own chapter to that rich narrative.
Artist presale begins Wednesday Sept. 11 at 10am and Ticketmaster presale begins Thursday Sept. 12 at 10am. Tickets go on sale to the general public Friday Sept. 13 at 10am and are available through cegpresents.com and (866) 777-8932.
