Weekly Artist Spotlight: A Family Affair – Sly and The Family Stone
Credited by some as the pioneers of “Psychedelic Soul” Sly and The Family Stone were a pivotal part of the development of funk, soul, rock, and psychedelic music. Led by multi-instrumentalist Sly Stone, the group also included Sly’s brother and sister Freddie and Rose Stone, as well as some more seriously talented musicians. The Family Stone was one of the first groups to have a racially diverse lineup, made up of both men and women. Check out a classic video of the whole band playing in their prime!
