Return of the Macpodz
Friday night at Sullivan features one of the most acclaimed young bands in the jamband scene. The Macpodz are a guitar-less five-piece from Ann Arbor, Michigan. Since the release of their first album, Genius Food for Super Heroes, in 2007, their blend of jazz and dance-rock (“disco-bebop”) has won them a wide-ranging audience. Meanwhile, they’re playing shows almost constantly (they recently finished a tour with Umphrey’s), and working on a new album, all the while updating their Twitter with links to free downloads of their stuff.
Here’s a video from Summer Camp ’07. The song is called “You Got Me.”
The Macpodz appear Friday the 29th at 11:30 pm. Also featured Friday night: NY Funk Exchange, Theo Katzman, Timbre Coup, and Well Down. Music starts at 7:30, $10 door. Tix here.
